One Year After Dobbs - Taking Points
One Year After Dobbs – We are #StillTheResistance
Talking Points
- A majority of Americans believe that we should all have the freedom to decide if and when we grow our families, to choose who we love and marry.
- On this weekend, when many communities are celebrating Pride, we must declare that the attacks on reproductive rights and the trans community are one and the same. Craven attacks on our bodily autonomy serve as a trojan horse for extremist politicians to advance an agenda that can’t win, even in gerrymandered elections.
- Women and our communities continue to organize and lead movements, resisting the rising repression we are all facing. The only thing that has ever defeated the authoritarianism that we are seeing in the US is people-powered movements. Women have been leading the longest-running protest movement in the United States since 2016, and we are still the resistance.
From the DNC:
President Biden’s Executive Order to Strengthen Access to Contraception:
- President Biden and Vice President Harris believe that contraception is an essential part of reproductive health care and that women should have access to the contraception that they need.
- Access to contraception has become more important than ever following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and the ensuing crisis for women’s health. And Republican elected officials in some states have already targeted contraception—or made clear they want to ban or restrict birth control in addition to abortion.
Today’s executive order underscores the president and vice president’s continued commitment to protecting access to the full spectrum of reproductive health care, including contraception and abortion.
- This EO directs a range of agencies to strengthen access to contraception under the Affordable Care Act, through Medicaid and Medicare, for service members and veterans, and through a wide range of other federal programs.
- This is the third EO on reproductive health care access that the president has signed since the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs, and the first focused specifically on protecting and expanding access to contraception. It builds on previous meaningful executive actions to: ensure that women receive the medical care they need in an emergency, such as miscarriage; defend access to safe and effective medication abortion; and strengthen privacy protection for patients and doctors.
- This comes just one day before the one-year anniversary of Roe v. Wade being overturned and is one of the ways the White House is marking the anniversary.
- While contraception cannot replace the need for abortion services or fill the gap left by the loss of the constitutional right to choose, it is an important part of helping ensure that women can make decisions about their own health, lives, and families.
- The Biden-Harris administration will continue to use every tool available to protect womens’ reproductive health care, and call on Congress to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade.
Investing in America Tour Launch Talking Points
- Today, the White House announced that President Biden will kick off a second round of the Biden-Harris administration’s Investing in America tour with a major infrastructure funding announcement at the White House on Monday, June 26.
- Over the course of three weeks, President Biden, Vice President Harris, First Lady Jill Biden, Cabinet members, and senior administration officials will barnstorm across the country to highlight how President Biden’s Investing in America agenda is driving a manufacturing and clean energy boom, rebuilding America’s infrastructure, lowering costs, and creating good-paying jobs.
- Because of historic legislation passed by President Biden and congressional Democrats – such as, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act – communities are seeing new manufacturing and clean energy investments, roads and bridges being rebuilt, and lower health care, energy, and internet costs.
- While congressional Republicans try to repeal key provisions of the Investing in America agenda that are lowering costs for millions of Americans and revitalizing American manufacturing, President Biden and leaders across the administration will go directly to those communities benefiting from these investments.
- Over the course of three weeks, the Investing in America tour will visit over twenty states, including Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Hawai’i, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Louisiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Vermont, and more. Americans can visit invest.gov to see projects and investments happening in their communities.
Talking Points On MAGA House Republicans’ Latest Political Stunt: Bogus Impeachment Of President Biden
Key Point: Republicans like James Comer and Jim Jordan have made clear that they only care about political stunts designed to hurt President Biden in order to help their leader Donald Trump and advance an extreme MAGA agenda. They have held failed hearing after failed hearing and have found nothing the least bit incriminating on President Biden, but that is not stopping them. President Biden has an unimpeachable record to run on and Republicans can’t compete with that record so they are engaging in more pathetic stunts – up to and including impeachment.
Toplines
-
This bogus impeachment is a desperate attempt by MAGA Republicans to distract from Donald Trump’s serious legal troubles. It is no coincidence that Republicans have started this bogus impeachment process shortly after Donald Trump was indicted on 37 felony counts over his improper handling of classified documents. New damning evidence against Trump continues to come out – including from Trump’s own admissions during interviews – and Republicans are desperate to change the news cycle and protect Trump and their MAGA agenda.
-
This is nothing more than a pathetic political stunt designed by MAGA Republicans to undermine President Biden and help Donald Trump in order to push their extreme agenda. House Republicans have made clear that their priority is trying to get Trump re-elected in 2024 and advance an extreme MAGA agenda. If they are successful, they will gut Social Security and Medicare and take away our fundamental rights, like the right to vote and the right to have an abortion. They would rather waste their time with these stunts than address the issues their constituents care about like health care, jobs, and reducing gun violence.
-
MAGA Republicans like James Comer and Jim Jordan have admitted that their investigations into President Biden are about helping Donald Trump get re-elected and hurting President Biden. Comer recently bragged about the effects his investigations were having on Trump and Biden’s 2024 poll numbers. And even before Republicans took control of the House, Comer and Jordan made clear that their focus would be on politically motivated investigations about President Biden in order to help Donald Trump in 2024.
-
Republicans have found nothing on President Biden to warrant impeachment. Despite years of investigations and months of hearings, Republicans have found no evidence of President Biden committing any crimes. Their entire playbook is to spread debunked and baseless conspiracy theories before being forced to admit that they have no proof of anything. Chuck Grassley even admitted that Republicans do not care about whether the allegations they spread are accurate or not.
-
Republicans are scared of Biden’s unimpeachable record delivering results for the American people. The Biden administration has worked hard for the American people, creating millions of jobs, lowering health care and prescription drug costs, passing an historic infrastructure law, and putting the pandemic in the rearview mirror. Republicans know they have nothing to offer in comparison but partisan political stunts.
KEY WORDS:
MAGA Republicans
Wrong priorities
Political stunts
Bogus impeachment
